Overall aims


Children less than 8 years old at the beginning of the year shall not enter this program.

 

Prior to starting the syllabus an Introductury course will be given.

Chinese Material construction guidelines

 

  1. Where complex and simple character are different both shall be shown.

  2. For complex characters, the component character should be taught first.

  3. Vocabulary shall not be grouped for the sake of group ( e.g. teaching all the colors or groups of useless animals )

  4. Historical character evolution shall be given for radicals.

  5. For the introductary level chinese material shall be split between characters to be recognised, and chinese to be understood – i.e. It should not be necessary for all spoken characters to be written.

  6. Vocabulary shall be selected based on either it's position in the frequency of words OR it's requirement to satisfy the above conditions ( e.g. Teaching of radicals ) OR because of particular pertinance to the kung fu.

  7. For all material 3 levels of teaching will be given corresponding to monkey , tiger , crane level.

  8. from Tiger level fluency drills and automatic vocab testing shall be used

  9. All vocab lists shall be given in :

    1. english

    2. chinese ( traditional and simple )

    3. spanish

  10. Verbs shall be taught in order of  priority in the correct order
